It doesn't have to be long but i've gotta pretend i'm in 1517 and i'm making a decleration saying Catholic isn't the only right religion and i'm starting up Protestant. It has to start like I, Martin Luther, declare that ..... HELP! Wat do i say? Ideas plz!!

basically look over what the gist of his theses were and reiterate it. I assume whatever text your class is using has the basic rundown.

For example, wasn't he pursuing the arguments that faith not works lead to heaven and that a person doesn't need the clergy to have a connection with God among many other things.

Do you mean a "Declaration"? An essay about your beliefs? (Think "Declaration of Independence") Is this for Religion Class? English?

Perhaps familiarizing yourself with Martin Luther's 95 Theses would help. Basic principles of theology and practice espoused by Luther, such as Sola Gratia, Sola Fide, Sola Scriptura: 1) We are saved by the grace of God alone -- not by anything we do; 2) Our salvation is through faith alone -- we only need to believe that our sins are forgiven for Christ's sake, who died to redeem us; 3) The Bible is the only norm of doctrine and life -- the only true standard by which teachings and doctrines are to be judged. (from the ELCA website posted below)

Luther wanted The Bible and services to be in the language of the people, not Latin, a language on the the "educated" religious figures knew.

I, Martin Luther, declare that each person should be entitled to believe what she or he believes, so long as it does not cause harm to self or other persons. I believe that we were all created to be free and not to be constrained to the religious beliefs of one practicing religion. I believe that we should all be free to believe in and worship one God or the gods of our own choosing. I have a dream that one day when we all come together and realize that we all share the common goal to be spiritual persons, we will all find peace and be able to live amongst each other in peace and harmony. But should there be a constraint that all persons should be Catholic, what may have been intended to unite a nation could, in fact, divide a nation. United we stand; divided we fall. I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the religion of their own choosing, but by the content of their character. I have a dream today! I have a dream that one day praises will be lifted up to heaven from every valley, forge, stream and mountain and the glory of the Lord shall be revealed and all flesh shall see it together.

This is our hope. This is the faith that I will go back to the South with. With this faith we will be able to believe in whatever God or gods we choose. That everyone will have hope in this lifetime. With this faith we will be able to transform the jangling discords of our nation into a beautiful symphony of brotherhood. With this faith we will be able to work together, to pray together, to struggle together, to go to jail together, to stand up for freedom together, knowing that we will be free one day.

This will be the day, this will be the day when all of God's children will be able to sing with new meaning, "He is my light. He is my salvation. He is my hope!" And if America is to be a great nation, this must become true.

And so let freedom ring from the prodigious hilltops of New Hampshire.

Let freedom ring from the mighty mountains of New York.

Let freedom ring from the heightening Alleghenies of Pennsylvania.

Let freedom ring from the snow-capped Rockies of Colorado.

Let freedom ring from the curvaceous slopes of California.

    But not only that.

Let freedom ring from Stone Mountain of Georgia.

Let freedom ring from Lookout Mountain of Tennessee.

Let freedom ring from every hill and molehill of Mississippi, from every mountainside, let freedom ring!

And when this happens, when we allow freedom to ring, when we let it ring from every tenement and every hamlet, from every state and every city, we will be able to speed up that day when all of God's children, black men and white men, Jews and Gentiles, Protestants and Catholics, will be able to join hands and sing in the words of the old Negro spiritual, "Free to believe at last, free to practice at last. Thank God Almighty, we are free at last."
